Personal Discovery for Achieving Peak Leadership Performance

Leadership is a behavior, not a title. A leader’s behavior reflects their deepest beliefs, motivations and values. It is therefore essential that a leader who aspires to achieving Peak Leadership Performance invest the time to uncover, understand and connect their beliefs, motivations and values to their behaviors.

This journey of deep personal discovery lays the foundation for the leader’s individual and professional success. By taking a “whole-person” approach we recognize that Peak Leadership starts with our ability to know and understand all aspects of ourselves... and with personal understanding comes an appreciation for the beliefs, motivations and values of others thereby enabling us to build better relationships, develop solutions and resolve conflict from a conscious, holistic and ethical perspective. This course leverages best in class self-assessment tools and dynamic group discussion to develop this personal understanding.

Target Audience

This course is designed for emerging and high-potential leaders interested in taking responsibility for furthering organizational advancement through amplifying their self-awareness and expanding their leadership skills.

Program Content

This work is done in an off-site, group context. This allows leaders to work on breakthroughs in their individual mindsets, behavior and style, and quality of their relationships. Everything is applied directly to the current, real world challenges that leaders face in leading their organizations and teams to increased greatness.

  • Three two-day (6 days total) core development sessions from 8:30am to 5:30pm each day with overnight reflections.
  • Two online group sessions (2 hours each). Reading and learning activities between sessions.
  • Pre-work and customized assessment instruments. All attendees complete three assessments:
    1) Behavioral Style Inventory (Emergenetics®)
    2) Emotional Intelligence Inventory (EQi 2.0®)
    3) Ethical Lens Inventory (EthicsGame®)

Sessions Overview

Revealing The Leader Within:  Leadership Starts with Self-Discovery
Strengthen your ability to lead by increasing self-awareness and gaining insight into your thinking and behavioral patterns. Learn strategies that build interpersonal relationships.

Session Highlight
Gain insight into how you prefer to think and behave. With this knowledge, you can understand how you generally prefer to relate to and communicate with others. By becoming aware of your preferences, you can discover your strengths and blind spots, so you can develop personal strategies to be more effective in life. Participants will complete an Emergenetics Profile which measures thinking and behavior preferences.

High-Potential Leaders: Increasing Your Impact
Learn self-management skills that will keep you in control. Increase clarity, authenticity and effectiveness to inspire, influence and motivate others and ourselves.

Session Highlight
Researchers and business experts agree that people with high emotional intelligence (EQ) are consistently the top performers in their organizations. They’re more resilient and flexible when things get tough, and are held in the highest regard by their bosses, peers, co-workers, and others. In this session, participants learn to recognize the behaviors and characteristics of an emotionally intelligent person, identify areas where emotional intelligence skills can be applied, and evaluate personal strengths and growth opportunities. Participants will take the MHS EQi2.0 assessment.

Discovering Your Ethical Self:  Finding your Ethical Values, Blind Spots and Strengths
Each person makes ethical decisions based on their values and perspectives. Gain clarity on your approach to ethical decisionmaking and learn what values motivate ethical decisions.

Session Highlight
A key element of Peak Leadership Performance is the ability to make effective decisions. Because of the complexity and sensitivity of leadership decisions and the pressure to “get it right,” leaders often need help to evaluate and resolve ethical dilemmas. Leaders will take the Ethical Lens Inventory and will gain an awareness of their ethical values and how others approach ethical decision-making. Experiential case studies are designed to help participants develop an understanding of each of the ethical decisionmaking approaches.
